Microalgae is a primary producer, at the base in natures food web. About 90 % of the input energy is lost for every step. By consuming the primary producers directly, in food/feed, a lot of energy is being saved.

We care about the future!
The future is green
At MicroA, we have a clear understanding that future industry needs to be both environmentally and economically sustainable. We believe that microalgae production is one of the solutions to create a green sustainable industry. Microalgae production can help society now and in the future by producing important goods in a sustainable way.
Environmental benefits
There are several environmental benefits with microalgae production at MicroA:
Primary producer
Small geo-footprint
Compared to agriculture, microalgae production occupies minimal land area for production.
Minimal water consumption
MicroA mainly uses seawater for production, an unlimited resource and not useable in agriculture production. If a freshwater species is cultivated, the evaporation loss is limited because of the closed photobioreactor design. There is also an option to recycle used water to minimize water usage.
Replacing synthetic products
Fully natural and biodegradable microalgae products can replace fossil-fuel based products and eliminate after use environmental impact. In addition to an environmental benefit, this can enhance consumer safety.
CO2 removal
Microalgae uses CO2 and produces O2 in the photosynthesis. This creates opportunities to reduce the emission of the dominating climate gas CO2, by using waste CO2 generated by other industrial processes.
Norway is the home of purity
MicroA is located just outside the Norwegian oil and gas capital of Stavanger. This gives the potential of turning advanced oil technology and competence into a green wave of innovation.
Amazingly, 98 % of all the energy in Norway comes from renewable sources, mainly hydropower. This ensures that green energy is used in MicroA’s microalgae production processes.
MicroA is spearheading the green industry of the future by creating a path for industrial microalgae production.
